Sponsored by the Castle Rock Historical Society with the gracious assistance of the Bear Canon Cemetery Association and the St. Philip-in-the-Field Episcopal Church
THIS IS OUR SECOND YEAR! We’ll walk leisurely for about 40 minutes stopping at about a dozen selected grave sites to hear brief stories of the deceased. Walking tour conducted by Castle Rock Historical Society members and historical genealogists Jerry and Mary Persall. The Bear Canon Cemetery was founded in 1872.  It contains the remains of pioneers significant in the early history of Sedalia, Castle Rock and Douglas County. In addition to being the resting place of early pioneers, the historic section of the cemetery contains numerous unique stones and markers that represent the culture and lifestyles of various Douglas County families. This tour starts and ends on time and is geared for adults only. Refreshments will be served following the tour.
